Si finge manager di PokerStars su Skype e prova a truffare un player high stakes

[imagebanner gruppo=pokerstars]Durante il tavolo finale di un evento TCOOP (Turbo Championship of Online Poker) su PokerStars.com, uno dei partecipanti, il player high stakes “jawong2000″, è stato contattato su Skype da un uomo che si è presentato come un manager della room dalla picca rossa. In realtà si trattava di un fake, un modo grossolano per mettere in atto una truffa.

Il tentativo però non è andato a buon fine, “jawong2000″ ha sentito puzza di bruciato ed ha denunciato tutto pubblicamente, aprendo un thread sul forum americano 2+2. Si è scoperto successivamente che il falso dipendente di PokerStars (in realtà un truffatore) era un russo.

In Russia, le truffe online di questo tipo sembrano essere – almeno da quello che si legge dalle testimonianze sul forum – all’ordine del giorno.

Nella discussione è intervenuto anche Lee Jones, direttore della comunicazione di PokerStars, che ha confermato che si trattava di un contatto falso, senza alcun legame con la propria azienda.

Jones ha ribadito la politica della room: con una chat interna funzionante sul client di PokerStars, il supporto della room non ha alcun interesse a comunicare con i giocatori esternamente, attraverso “terzi” canali come Skype.

In modo del tutto onesto, “jawong2000″ ha ammesso di essere stato ingenuo ad accettare il contatto, rendendo vulnerabile e nota la propria mail. Questa la chat tra il giocatore e il truffatore:

These transfers were blocked by our security system.

In tutti i casi, jawong2000 è riuscito a proteggere l'accesso della propria mail, ma la sua leggerezza poteva costargli cara.
